Stephen Charles L Wen Thanabalan is a Singaporean Citizen and Australian Permanent Resident of mixed race ethnicity (Indian-Chinese), giving rise to his unique moniker, "Chindian". Stephen works in the legal industry, but was trained in broadcast journalism in the late 1990s whilst simultaneously developing into an avid musician and voice actor as well as Christian Evangelist; specialising in children's storytelling, songs and audiobooks.
Stephen's strengths lie in his ability to bring six or seven different skill sets into the one portfolio, with the competitive advantage of managing to helm projects from inception through completion on any theme/variation/topic/subject. He is capable of doing his own professional voice work, performing as an actor, doing the commentary, scripts, and technical mastering and production and also possesses the unique talent of being a writer himself- both of film reviews (he's an IMDB critic), stories, articles, scripts or songs- with the unique ability to write songs on the spot/impromptu, giving him powerful insight into the mind of an improv performer and actor; albeit one without Stanislavskian or Chekhovian methodology or training.
Over the past decade, Stephen has also emceed and hosted weddings/events on occasion- all while he preaches about the Christian worldview to you and jovially advises you on the legal implications of copyright law because he also managed to be qualified as an actual lawyer (admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria Australia).
However, perhaps most surprising of all to clients, is that Stephen (also known as Liang Wen) can actually translate some of these skills through the Mandarin language (as he speaks fluent Mandarin), all the while maintaining an IELTS 8.5 overall score as a Cambridge CELTA qualified English Teacher.
Indeed, Stephen's unique experience as an actor is drawn from the wide ambit of his past experiences having lived in two continents and having worked all manner of jobs before- from being the copy kid on the SBS World News Desk in Sydney in 2001 and cutting his teeth as an Intern Court Reporter for the Australian Associated Press, through to part time gigs of all varieties and sorts- from selling Tyco Alarm Systems door to door in Melbourne, conscripting as a Sergeant in the Special Investigations Branch of the Military Police Narcotics team, to being awarded a gold star for his grooming and customer oriented service at Singapore's Changi Airport as an agent ambassador, Stephen has done a myriad of voice roles; he was once even a tour guide at Fort Siloso Sentosa and a tram commentator for the tourist attraction at the Singapore Zoological Gardens' Night Safari.
Indeed, this Chindian's wealth of experience, translates into his content creativity and work ethic for all clients, resulting in what we guarantee will be an encouraging experience for all involved. Stephen can be reached via this site, or booked directly via the company Et Teneo Pte Ltd.
