About Edwin Paul

Edwin, a Los Angeles Voice Talent, has a natural age range between 15-55 and a manly tenor voice. He's not your typical "dude" from Southern California, but he's still calm, cool, laid back and down-to-earth. Off the mic, Edwin is an approachable, average guy who many first find as bashful, but realize he is easygoing and friendly; like the neighborly, guy next door. He normally chooses the "middle of the road" and is happy knowing he can stay in neutral and doesn't need to be extreme to get the job done. Edwin's kindly, wholesome and welcoming personality can get others to feel warm and fuzzy. On the mic, Edwin is very precise and thoughtful in bringing the character to life, becoming a real person. A seasoned actor with his voice as the medium, it's unbelievable how versatile Edwin can be; from fast, young and youthful, to slow, older or middle age and senior. Edwin proudly believes in good, high quality work, which is why he should be trusted for your next project.

Projects with conversational type reads where Edwin has the opportunity to provide a solid and dynamic performance. Scripts/stories that are encouraging or inspiring to the listener.
Edwin can harness many powerful emotions. He has a strong belief that if one can express an emotional feeling through the microphone, then he/she is doing something right. Edwin can harness any of the following emotions/attitudes: aggressive, angry, caring, dismissive, earnest, emphatic, gregarious, grumpy, gruff, harsh, languid mad, moody, pained, provocative, rugged, sad, scared, scary, sentimental, serious, sinister, stern, timid, unabashed, uninhibited, vicious, vigorous, wry. Edwin knows that acting is extremely vital in non announcer type voiceovers; without it, the character won't sound authentic, truthful, honest, genuine or believable. Without acting or without emotion, the character would never be bold, deep or edgy and the performance wouldn't be heavy, inspirational, motivating or moving.
With a great sense of humor, Edwin can bring characters in a comedy to life. With his improvisational skills and comic timing, he can make a spontaneous situation amusing, humorous, and delightful without losing it's rhythm. Edwin believes funny is fresh and that fun comes in all shapes and sizes; he can even make charming comical, the mild wild, and the nerdy nutty. Of course if you need cheery, he'll make it cheerful. If you need intense, he'll bring intensity. However funny you need it, from dopey and silly, to wacky and quirky, or even loud, rowdy, and sarcastic, Edwin knows it's important to keep it smooth; regardless of how unusual. Edwin can help your project feel good, bright, and upbeat. It's easy because he loves being humourous! After all, he is a little weird and kooky; but aren't we all?
For mature or sensual type projects, Edwin is not shy to exhibit a warm and sultry voice. The soft and teasing tone of his voice will deliver an engaging and lovable ambience to set the mood right.
Edwin can do a a variety of accents and dialects including British R.P., Irish, Scottish, Australian, U.S. Southern (Appalachian and Plantation Drawl), New York, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Western Cowboy and Old Miner, California Surfer Stoner, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, etc. (just ask). He can do these accents with different pitches, resonances and vocal quirks to create a wide variety of believable, entertaining characters with interesting personalities. Edwin can also do a wide variety of character voices with age ranges from 3 to 103 with many resonances and speech quirks.
Edwin can do celebrity impressions and impersonations including classics like James Dean, Marlon Brando, James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, John Wayne, Desi Arnaz, Elvis Presley and modern stars such as Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Jackie Chan, Brad Garrett and James Earl Jones. Edwin can also do real and simulated historical characters such as Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Richard M. Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Ross Perot, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barrack Obama. As a "perfectionist", Edwin tries to sound as accurate and convincing as possible when doing impressions.
Projects with a casual and/or light read where Edwin is the spokesperson and would speak in a liquid or fluid nature.
For your business recordings, business like, or corporate projects requiring a voice that's cordial, elegant, profound or sophisticated, a great choice is Edwin's. His naturally personable voice is pleasing to the ear; especially with a worldly or cosmopolitan script. When he uses a quiet, low pitched tone, the words sound sincere and inviting; perfect for a soft sell. For narrations, Edwin uses a pleasant and soothing voice alongside a positive attitude. He also believes that if a narrator sounds educated, the chances of a negative vibe lessens during the narration, thus keeping the listener tuned in. Like the ageless and captivating voice of the legendary Don LaFontaine, Edwin can provide a gravelly, penetrating action trailer with an authoritative, energetic and raspy voice. He also likes to announce or sound announcerish with incredible energy, like the famous announcer Michael Buffer. Edwin is experienced in fast paced, dry, deadpan sounding industrial presentations requiring the or communicator to read clear, flat, automotive, firm, and monotonous; similar to the rapid, transparent, monotone voice in political ads. Edwin can also preform hard sell communicative attitudes required to communicate in an excitable or excited manner while selling with a call to action approach. Edwin can also do medical narration, while understanding and pronouncing proper terms of medicine. Edwin loves to do radio voice impressions such as Casey Kasem, Tom Leykis, and Howard Stern.
Off the mic, Edwin is a regular guy. Optimistic and hopeful to make history in the grand world of entertaining and Voiceover. He stays true to the belief that he'll be awesome. On the mic, he is confident, self-assured and enthusiastic in providing quality work. As an actor, Edwin trained on cold reads, requiring to get an understanding of the script as quickly as possible. He also trained on improv, where he had to act sharp and quick, unscripted and think on his feet. Astute in the craft, he hopes it is viable enough to help secure jobs and build a network. Once you have worked with Edwin, you will find his bio credible. In this wonderful world of Voiceover, Edwin is specific to staying professional; an actual part of his work ethic. He is proud of being directable, which is why he is a trustworthy candidate for your next project!
Edwin is a great choice for radio and tv commercials, promos, trailers, corporate industrial narration, documentaries, telephone IVR and on hold, animation and character voices, impressions and impersonations, audiobooks and books on tape, training videos, internet and podcast presentations, and video games.
