Highlights

My experience with vocal training and theatrical acting have greatly improved my abilities as a voice actress and artist. Vocally, I am stronger and more colorful than other artists, and I am able to take direction extremely well. Working with directors from all across the world on operas, musicals, plays, recitals, and in many other ways has given me a perspective on the career and artform that most performers do not have. I have honed my skills by training daily to improve and empower my voice, and I am able to evoke much emotion and depth from a script.

Experience

Laura Salyer (soprano), originally from Kentucky, received a Professional Studies degree in vocal performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), studying with Clifford Billions. Laura most recently performed in scenes from Carmen and A Streetcar Named Desire, as well in Cosí fan tutte as Dorabella with CIM. Her additional work includes performances as Ursule in Beatrice et Benedict, Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, and as Mařenka in scenes from Prodaná nevěsta. In young artist’s programs, Salyer sang the roles of La Suora Zelatrice (Operafestival di Roma) and Genovieffa (Prague Summer Nights) in Suor Angelica, Adina in scenes from L’elisir d’Amore, and covered Zerlina in Don Giovanni. Her most notable performances with the University of Kentucky include The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Mother’s Voice/Guardian of the Dawn in a co-premiere and recording of Daron Hagen’s opera Little Nemo in Slumberland, and Little Joe in Brundibár by Hans Krása.

Salyer has given several high-profile public presentations and has introduced various organizations and individuals for sporting events, musical performances, recitals, educational conferences, and more. Hailed for her smooth, rich, and silky voice, she has been a coveted speaker, actress, and singer in the Cleveland area for the last few years. Often invited to speak on radio shows and via livestream productions and interviews, Salyer is quickly becoming a well-rounded and experienced professional.

Laura plans to continue her career in the Phoenix area, and is willing to travel or work on recorded submissions for many different genres of voice work. She is interested in voice acting for video games, animated films, cartoons, commercials, webinars, radio shows, apps, and much more, and she plans to continue her singing and acting career simultaneously.
