I was a three time president of Toastmasters which is an international public speaking club. Here I competed in competitions involving comedic and motivational speeches and narrations. I have been doing book narrations for six months and have not been without work. I work with and in combination with my son, Andrew Blake who has 24 years experience in music performance, music production, jingle writing and voice overs. Together there is not much we can't do.

My voice experience began in college where I would use my electives to take such courses as theater
and oral interpretation.
I have three degrees including a degree in marketing with my highest degree being a Doctor of Dental Surgery, but my first job out of college was as a math teacher which put me in front of people speaking. This I did for three years along with being the moderator of the drama club. This teaching experience came in handy when in dental school at the University of IL, I was asked to teach in their dental assisting program.
My first contact with voice overs occured when my son was only ten, when, because of his perfect pitch, he had an oppertunity to do voice overs for many major companies across the United States. Although not being a part of talent at this time, this gave me excellent experience in how the business works.
My son, Andrew, is now 35, still does voice overs and jingle work both as talent and jingle writing, but makes his primary living as a performer. You can learn more about Andrew at (Website hidden), and can use his music creation and production services by contacting me.
I work with and in combination with my Andrew utilizing his talents and experience, along with a host of talented individuals who provide musical support, to provide a complete package for voice over and music production.
Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Bachelor of Science in Dentistry, Doctor of Dental Surgery all from the University of IL. I also taught school for three years. My membership in Toastmasters was an educational experience. The format of the program dictates completing requirements in a variety of speech categories. My son has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a music minor.

In a world of electronics and easy narration programs, in times of rush and bland, a spark of light ignites in the voice and style of Gene Blake. His unique style and sound take you into the stories that he reads making you part of the world instead of just being a listener. He creates a visual through acting narration and voices that resembles the days of old radio, when one gets captivated by it all.Jaqueline Druga / author
Gene Blake is a true natural talent who has the ability to not only perform the story, but get into the writers head so he con portray the story just as the author imagined.
As a first time director and producer of a self-financed feature film, I faced many challenges. But Gene Blake was among the few things I could depend on to not contribute to the stress. His thinking is sharp and subtle, his sense of character intuitive and considered. Throughout the process he remained focused long after the energy of others waned. Both his committed professionalism and his sense of daring were an inspiration to all those involved. I have worked in many collaborative scenarios in various disciplines and Gene Blake is exactly the kind of collaborator I expect everyone hopes to find.Tim Kinsella, Writer and Director of "Orchard Vale"
