Voices has recently launched a TikTok channel where you will find a lot of informative content and some fun things as well.

What is Tik Tok?

TikTok was named the third fastest-growing brand of 2020, behind Zoom and Peacock. It is a short video hosting site where users can upload content on almost any topic.

With its social media aspects, such as live videos and chat features, it has become the site of choice for many users. And with 80 million active users every month, it is a powerhouse for brand-building.

How Do You Get Started?

Many people only use TikTok for leisure, and it can be fun. If you like seeing people pulling pranks on grocery shoppers or listening to funny stories, you will find it on TikTok.

But many in the voiceover community have found a way to promote themselves within the app. As a result, people get noticed and discovered on TikTok every day.

To get started, all you have to do is download the TikTok app on your phone or tablet and create an account. Then, you can start posting videos right away and begin attracting followers.

TikTok allows you to shoot your videos right in the app and provides a lot of text generators, voice effects, filters, and music to make your channel stand out. You can also record your videos separately, edit them on your computer, mix in a voice over, and upload them to TikTok later if you prefer.

How Do You Grow?

The best thing that you can do to grow your channel and gain more followers is to be consistent and stay engaged. Watch videos and see what’s trending. For example, if a particular song is popular, you might try singing it in various voices. Use hashtags to promote your content. And post videos every single day. Many users post multiple times every day.

Take a look at Pete Gustin, the blind surfer of YouTube fame. He has been a voice actor for years. He turns up all the time on Fox, movie trailers, and news spots. His TikTok channel is a lot about his voice work, but he also posts about what it is like to be blind. By doing this, he attracts two different kinds of audiences and creates enough content to cater to both of them.

How Do You Go Live on TikTok?

Content creators on TikTok use the Live feature to connect with their audience and make them feel like they are more than just a face on their screen.

Going live creates a stream that your followers can view in real-time. They can chat with you, ask you questions, and even give you gifts.

To go live, you have to be at least 16 years old, and you must have at least 1,000 followers. You get those followers by doing the things that we already talked about. When you go live, your followers will receive a notification, and they can tune in to watch and take part.

Follow these steps to start a live stream on TikTok:

  1. Start just as you would when posting a new video to your account. In the app, press the plus icon in the bottom center.
  2. Once you see yourself through your device’s camera, you will see the word LIVE at the bottom of the screen. If you don’t see it, you either do not meet the live stream requirements, or TikTok has restricted you for some reason.
  3. Press LIVE. Then you can enter a status message. You can tell your followers what you will be talking about or if it is just a random fun session. At this point, you can also pick charities for your audience to donate to during your live stream if you would like.
  4. Press the red “Go LIVE” button on the bottom of the screen, and you will be live streaming.

What Can You Do While You Are Live?

Remember to follow all of TikTok’s Community Guidelines while you are live streaming. There are a few things they do not allow, including nudity, bullying, and dangerous acts.

They take these rules seriously, and many people have lost their accounts because they did not follow them. So if you are serious about using the platform to get your name out there, you would be wise to read them over.

Other than that, have fun with it. Your followers will begin coming into your live stream, but they can leave with the flick of their thumb.

Be sure that you have planned something to talk about or something to do. Of course, your audience can comment and ask questions, but you should not depend on that for the entirety of your content.

What Accounts Use the Go Live Feature Best?

There are hundreds of people creating live streams all the time. Here are a couple of people that have taken their names to the next level using the Live feature.

Nicole Sanchez was a gamer that had found some success on TikTok and Twitch. In 2020 she made a simple live stream where she danced and lip-synced the song “Oki Doki Boomer” while wearing a campaign shirt for Bernie Sanders. Overnight she gained nearly a half-million followers.

A great example of an established brand taking advantage of the live stream function is Ulta, the cosmetics giant. They host content in real-time, introducing their products and giving tutorials on their use. Up and coming items are highlighted as well.

Conclusion

TikTok Live is a great way to grow your brand and get your name out there. First, just plan your content and get it out there. Or, if going live isn’t your thing, then consider creating a TikTok and use (or replace) the TikTok voice, add your own voice overs or even try out the captions feature. All of these features help you connect with your audience in new and refreshing ways.
