Voice For Hire

Many months ago, I had the pleasure of corresponding with Randy Thomas as she told me about her forthcoming book (Voice For Hire). I’m glad that the release date (September 30th) is nearly here and I personally can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this book (I contributed some information from Voices.com and am excited to read what Randy and Peter included!).

According to the authors, this book is great for voice talent at any juncture in their career and or training, and as the newest voice over book on the market, it should be an interesting read for all of us.

  1. Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for posting information about this book, I am very excited to read it! It sounds like a wonderful addition to my VO library. I can’t wait to pick up a copy! Both Randy & Peter have such wonderful voices and amazing careers in this industry, I look forward to hearing their advice.
    Thanks again,
    ~Heather Costa

  2. Stephanie, can you hear this?
I’m a new guy and we need all the help we can get.
    Thanks for your good work!

  3. I had the pleasure of meeting both Randy and Peter out in LA at VOICE 2008, and the even greater pleasure of serving on the Professionals panel that was moderated by Peter. I have been waiting for this book to be released since hearing about it back then!

  4. Hey Stephanie!
I’ve been doing voice over for over 26 years (over and over), starting as a jock on a top 40 station. And every word of advice I can use, good-bad-or indifferent, is valuable. I heard an interview a couple years ago, Jim Bohanon with Randy, Joe Cipriano, and Don LaFontaine. Huge amounts of the “insider” information from Randy, Joe and Don. I can imagine she’s done it again. And, Doug, only salivate over the mic with a proper “spit guard”, otherwise you’ll ruin the diaphragm.
Happy Tuesday and best of luck and skill!
    Bryan Mix-Dean

  5. Seeing as I don’t have sufficient funds to afford such a luxury as to buy a book like this right now, I figure I might as well give this a shot. I just recently (within the last 3 months) started voice acting, so any sort of help or informational resources I can acquire would be perfect, especially from two experts such as Randy and Peter.
    Dan Conlin

  6. This sounds like a great book – love the fact that the intro is done by Don the Master LaFontaine.
    Keep up the good work,
    Ellen Dubin

  7. I would be very interested in checking out the book. I’ve been a VO artist for 30 years and now have to keep up with the new technologies of having a home studio. I also love the way you are marketing your site. Very interactive! Awesome!

  8. Stephanie;
Congratulations on your inclusion in this great new book. That’s a really great feather in your cap…and for voices.com.
Please include me in the weekly draw.
    Derek Aubrey

  9. Hi Stephanie,
I can’t wait to read this book! Please put me in the mix as well! I’m teaching VO workshops now, and am reading everything I can get my hands on to continually improve my own VO career!
    Jay Lerner

  10. Please put me in for the new book by Randy & Peter. I’ve been a huge fan of Peter’s since I heard him on one of the podcasts at voices.com, and hope to train with him in NYC someday in the future!
But in the meantime, I’d love to get the book!
    Thanks JC

  11. I had the pleasure of meeting both Randy and Peter out in LA at VOICE 2008, and the even greater pleasure of serving on the Professionals panel that was moderated by Peter. I have been waiting for this book to be released since hearing about it back then!

  12. Hi Stephanie,
‘Looking forward to possessing and reading the book by Randy Thomas. Here is my hat in the ring for a chance to
win the book. Hey, even if I do not win the book, I’ll surely buy one at Randy’s book signing here in Ft Myers, Florida on Saturday the 11th of October.
    Rev. Steve B.

  13. I’ve been anticipating the release of this book for some time now. It’s really great that you’re giving us this opportunity. Thanks!

  14. Me Me!! I was going to go to the book signing last week, and had an awful head cold…definitely not something I wanted to share with the voice community!! 😉

  15. When I voice ..Europeans think I’m American..
    ..Americans think I’m British..
    ..Canadians think I’m Dutch
Man this can be confusing !
Always open to advice and direction !
    Count me in !

  16. Woohoo! Not only do I get to enter to win the book, but it’s like I just walked down Main Street of VoiceOverVille, USA! How cool is this?

  17. This book would be a great help as I get started in the industry. I will have my demo soon and am really excited to get started, but for now I am just trying to learn as much as I can so I am ready when my training is all done.

  18. Stephanie-
Don LaFontaine was a mentor and friend and was the reason I pursued this career. One of the first things he offered me in the way of advice was to get 2 books that happen to be highly regarded by big wigs in the industry…The Art of Voice Acting and Secrets of Voiceover Success. This book seems to be on par and I cannot wait to read it. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to add Voice for Hire to my library of voiceover industry books. Thank you for the opportunity.

  19. There’s such a limited amount of shared knowledge in this business, it’s a comfort to hear a voice out there willing to offer some sound advice. Looking forward to a great read!

  20. Thanks, Stephanie, count me in! Randy and Peter have so much to offer!! I can’t wait to read this book!
    Fingers crossed!

  21. Thank you for letting people know about this book. If you can’t afford this book and what comes with it you don’t know the value of training. Peter and Randy are working voice artist that are sharing what they know works.

  22. Please enter me in your contest to win “Voice for Hire,” and the other prizes up for grabs. It would mean a lot to me to get more valuable information on how to succeed in this industry.

  23. I WILL be getting this book! Even if I have to buy it, but I would like to try to win it first. Add me to the drawing, please.

  24. Hi Stephanie,
I’ve been following Randy Thomas’s amazing career for many years now and been trying to emulate her rich, silky voice. I’d love to hear her perspective on the industry and learn from her experiences!
    Robin Rowan

  25. Hey Steph!!
OMG Randy Thomas, “Voice For Hire”. How amazing is that! I can hardly wait to get my hands on that book. Without a doubt, I am sure it will be a fantastic read.
Put me down for a chance of winning this book.
    Bill Johnson

  26. Looks like an inspiring read! I can always use words of wisdom! I hope this will have some good info for experienced folks as well as new folk. Thanks!

  27. Hi Stephanie!
I’ve been looking forward to reading this book! Always looking to improve! Thanks for giving us a chance to win it! And thanks to Voices.com for all you do!
    Diane Merritt

  28. Stephanie,
I have been a fan of Randy Thomas and her lovely voice for a long time. The first time I heard her was doing a new version of Bill Cosby and Art Linkletter and his “Kids Say The Darndest Things”. I immediately thought she had the most beautiful voice and was so pleased for her when I heard her voice for the Academy Awards as well as the Emmy’s, Tony’s and her work for Entertainment Tonight. I would really LOVE to win her book because I am POSITIVE it is a fantastic book and since she is someone I aspire to be I think I can learn a ton from it.
Thanks for the opportunity to leave my comment!!
