About Us

Compagnie José Besprosvany was created in 1986. With his company, choreographer and director José Besprosvany has devoted himself to envisioning and creating choreographic and theatrical works that offer new perspectives on the subtle interplay of movement, music, and text in all their infinite permutations.

The company's recent work runs along two main lines: the exploration of the complex relationship between narrative and dance, on the one hand, and an openness to non-European cultures, on the other. These two lines have guided the company's work in the course of various projects, which, despite their seeming differences, ultimately find coherence in their questioning and their groundwork.
