About Us

The mission of Screencast-O-Matic is to enable everyone, everywhere to easily capture, share and experience video content. Today, Screencast-O-Matic is used across diverse industries such as user experience testing, design validation, marketing, support services, games, and enterprise video. However, the roots and current focus of the company is in education. We believe the creation of personalized screen capture and video communications should be fundamental to how teachers and students collaborate. This goes beyond blended learning to include other communications scenarios such as work presentation, assessments, general announcements, etc. Our mission of everyone, everywhere means that we strive for teachers and students to become both creator and consumers of personalized screen recordings that lead to richer conversations, more differentiated and reflective learning experiences, and more productive use of teacher and student time. Our mission to easily capture and share video content is realized in the investment required to obtain and use our tools. Not only is our goal for the tools to be cost effective (or free), we also strive to enable anyone to easily and quickly become both creator and editor of screen recordings with minimal investment of time, to instantly share video content in a familiar way, and to experience recordings from anywhere, at any time, and on any device. We believe that only by realizing our mission will these tools become more ubiquitous and obtainable for all, paving the way for standardization and creating richer, more dynamic, and highly productive learning experiences.
