What happens when you combine an event marketing guru with an experienced web developer?

Sounds like the beginning to a bad joke. But it really has evolved into an interesting story that has become Webconnex.

Meet Eric and John - two guys with vastly different backgrounds coming together to build a set of tools to help people and organizations suck-less when it comes to their online technology efforts.

Webconnex was an accident waiting to happen. Eric leads a web technology group out of Sacramento that has been developing killer web applications for startups and Fortune 500 companies. John has been working with some of the biggest brands in the world for a leading event promotion and marketing company in Newport. Both sit on the board of an emerging technology non-profit and work on a few side startups together.

It was August of 2008 when Eric decided to develop a donation manager for one of his clients so they could process donations online. They had been searching forever for a good “off the shelf solution,” but they didn’t want to pay for all the custom development or worry about the security issues and upgrades. After about 6 weeks, a simple interface with minimal features was created. It didn't have a ton of bells and whistles, but it did what it was supposed to do. John and Eric met up to ride dirt bikes and the conversation turned towards web technology. John took a look at the simple manager and saw huge potential for the events industry. “It was like an in house solution for ticketing, registration, volunteer management, and exhibitor registration” remembers John. After several hours at Starbucks, the decision was made to make enhancements to this little manager to facilitate event registrations.

Webconnex LLC was born a few weeks later and signed on a few private clients (who enjoy a free lifetime membership) to test and give feedback. Over the next 12 months, Webconnex discreetly added over 100 private beta clients processing over $3M in revenue. Something was working. The customer feedback was tremendous and a long list of enhancements and features slowly began to take shape.

While Webconnex is still young and growing, the focus and mission is to build powerful, yet simple and easy to use, web applications. No crazy fees, retainers, change orders, and iron clad contracts will ever be a part of the Webconnex strategy. Our idea is simple… create useful products that anyone can afford and use, be nice guys, and customers will follow.

The 'About Us' story continues to evolve as our products and services adapt and emerge. But at least this gives you a small insight to basis that all these ideas, products and services were founded on. We have two California locations if you ever want to meet us in person: Sacramento and Newport Beach.
