We're standing next to the JFK memorial in the city of Dallas. It's a powerful tribute to a man who inspired a nation with his vision for a different world. The square shaped concrete structure resembles an open tomb. It's made up of 72 columns. Some are slightly longer than the others and serve as supportive legs. The corners and openings of this Ruthless room are decorated with rows of concrete circles, all identical and perfectly aligned. The circle shapes break up the otherwise rather severe geometry. If you look through the openings to the center, you'll see a large black marble slab etched with Kennedy's name. The memorial plaza itself is laid out with lawns, trees and benches making it a pleasant place to come and pay one's respects. You'll also notice two dark granite squares are set into the flagstones on either side of the memorial. Each is inscribed with an epitaph.
