North Cascades National Park, Washington State. Long considered one of the most beautiful and scenic parks in the nation, the North Cascades air home to numerous mountains, splendid rivers and hundreds of breathtaking lakes and ponds, among them Lake Diablo. Though not a natural body of water, Lake Diablo is one of the most iconic and picturesque lakes in the state. Created artificially by the Diablo down, this reservoir is full of glacial silt from the nearby mountains that gives the lake it's distinct turquoise color. And while the trees encircling Diablo Lake can make this a colorful playground any time of the year, the changing leaves and fall can be especially mesmerizing even for the visitor traveling by themselves. They're never really quite alone here. This region of the park is frequented by deer bears, the occasional eagle and the eager faces of the chipmunks waiting for crumbs. Despite the busy summer crowds that make their way to the park, the vast mountain country of the North Cascades provides plenty of room to feel like you're miles from anyone seeing here. From the Diablo Lake, Lookout is a panoramic view of all the beauty and tranquility that the North Cascades has to offer
