Hi, I'm Pat Dooley and welcome to Episode zero of every movie ever. Asterisk. The asterisk is there because I'm fairly certain it would literally be impossible for me to watch every movie ever. Cinema has been around in one form or another for about a century and 1/4. And with hundreds of movies coming out every year, the backlog alone would be insane. But gosh, darn it. And I'm not gonna try and get close. I'm lucky enough to live in one of the increasingly rare cities that still has a video rental store. They're not a sponsor, so I'm reluctant to say their name. But I will say that they catered toward renting videos to families. I was there a few weeks ago with my wife trying to figure out what we were going to watch. That night. We passed by aisles and aisles full of movies that I will never watch. There's just no way I'm going to grab a copy of, say, Stevenson calls absolution and decide to make a night of it. Or at least not without a podcast audience listening to me talk about it after so an idea was born. I am going to watch every movie in the entire store. I went through a few different innovations of the idea. I set some ground rules. I'm only watching features, no TV shows on DVD, no sporting events, no compilations like those 26 part A B. C's of death videos. I'll also sort of be cheating in that. If I own a copy of the movie on DVD or Blue Ray, or if I can find its streaming online, I won't actually rent it from the store because that would be prohibitively expensive after a while. Current plan is to do a couple of episodes per month. I'd like to do Weekly, but since I'm aiming for about 10 movies and episode, that doesn't give me a lot of timeto watch, write and record an episode and work 40 hours a week in my day job. I'd like each episode revolve around the theme, like every Star Wars movie ever, or the films of Aaron Sorkin or I Am Debby's Top 10 of all time. But then every 10 episodes or so go to the Iraq and just grabbed the first time I haven't watched yet, probably bring on guests, maybe not every episode, but often I don't know any celebrities. So these will be my friends and family Lou. Fairly informal chat about everything we watched, and then I'm sure I'll work out some regular features like rankings and pro con lists. In the meantime, Episode one will launch August 13th and it's titled The Great Movie Ride Asterisk. I'll be joined by my friend Matthew Cram for discussion about the classic Disney attraction, as well as some of the movies contained within it. More on that on the 13th. I'm excited to get started, and I'm hoping you're excited to tune in. You can like the show at facebook dot com slash every movie ever asterisk.
