Hey, welcome back. Glad you stopped by. I want to share a story with you about a terrible storm that came through our area. They said it was a wind shear event, but it sure felt like a tornado to me When? When you're talking about 70 mile an hour winds and sideways rain. And there was hailed. It was just awful. It was It was short. It wasn't a long event, but it was It was very violent, and it was very swift. And I wanted to tell you the story about what happened to Renee, her three year old niece, and her best friend, Morgan. And I'll tell you right up front, you may think you know where I'm going with this, but I bet you'll be surprised at where we land. So the three of them are driving and suddenly out of nowhere, this event happens and keep in mind. Now she is driving a brand new car and it starts to hail. So what does she do? She pulls into a shopping center parking lot and she parks under a big tree. Sure enough, a giant branch comes crashing down through her new sunroof. She can get out, the knees can get out. But her best friend, Morgan trapped in the car. Fortunately, there was a restaurant right there, and miraculously, the restaurant still had power. So she grabs her three year old niece. She runs into the restaurant, says, Will you watch my niece? I need to go help my friend. She runs back outside into the elements. She tries to lift this big limb, and she can't do it. It's too heavy. And then she says, out of no, where two guys show up, lift the limb up and Morgan the friend, everybody runs back inside to the safety of the restaurant. Turns out one of those guys was the restaurant's chef, and another was just a customer. They both wanted to help these people. They did not know. No, it's a pretty good story right there. But it gets better because the owner of the restaurant was also there at that time. The owner, after the storm passed, sent one of his employees to target to buy them dry clothes. He fed them. They stayed there for six hours until they made sure that the roads were clear and it was gonna be safe for them to go home. And Morgan, the best friend, said, You know, I really wanted to thank him, but I had such a lump in my throat. I couldn't get the words out. Then, after the story did kind of get around, someone interviewed the owner of the restaurant, and he immediately humbly put up his deflector shield. And he said, You know, I didn't do anything that anybody else wouldn't have done. I was just trying to be a good Samaritan. The one thing I found very interesting in all of these kinds of stories. It wasn't so much neighbor helping neighbor or strangers helping strangers. It's that in none of these stories, they didn't dwell on why this bad thing happened. The reason I wanted to share this story was not about people helping, but it was how the focus was off the rear view mirror and on the road up ahead. I'm not trying to make sense of what happened, Augustine wrote about God. If you understand, it's not God, you understand. That's pretty deep Thought isn't if you understand, it's not about God, you understand? Meaning you may think, you know, but you don't really know may be the closest we can get is Proverbs 16 4 which says the Lord has made everything for its purpose. That's why we have faith, isn't we trust that God is always doing more than we can imagine, And then he is good Now that doesn't mean we're supposed to be searching out suffering so we can come out stronger on the other side. No one's going to suggest that. But it does remind us that when something awful happens that beneath the negative there is an opportunity for growth and deepening. We'll catch next time. Thanks for listening.
