Throughout its history, New York's Lower East Side has been the backdrop of the American immigrant experience. During the 19th century. This neighborhood welcomed wave after wave of European immigrants on by the 20th century. It's teeming streets and crowded tenements become a melting pot of international cultures. In the near future, virtually every device in your home will be connected to the Internet, your lights, refrigerator, thermostat, security system, even your car. These devices will share information so that your lights will go out when you lock your doors and the thermostat will turn back on when you get close to home. It's called the Internet of Things, and it's already changing the way we live. In 1962 President John F. Kennedy famously promised to send a man to the moon. By the end of that decade, the American people were enthusiastically supportive. But there was just one problem. NASA didn't have the technology to meet that goal. So in true American fashion they began to innovate. And within a few years, the crazy dream of reaching the moon didn't seem so crazy anymore. With award winning films like Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive, director David Lynch has pushed the boundaries of modern filmmaking, but he's also helped change the world of television. In fact, his groundbreaking Siri's Twin Peaks helped usher in the new age of cinematic quality TV.
