Members of the DeWitt bus drivers union have objected to a vote that cost the union it's re certification. Last month, members of the Service Employees International Union Local 199 filed an objection, claiming that 11 of the 16 eligible voters voted in favor of recertification, despite the unofficial tallies showing just eight votes had been cast. Davenport's Eastern Avenue library was given an early holiday gift last month as a local man donated more than 1000 books to the branch over two days in early October. The large amount, however, is too much for the library to handle, and the Friends of the Devenport Library will be hosting a special estate book sale this Friday and Saturday, November 17th and 18th. The library will keep roughly 10% of the books donated, using the profits of the sale to purchase materials and fund local reading programs.
