Texas is so big, we've got parks as big as other states. Seriously, just look a Big Bend National Park, located in the southwest corner of the state, Big Ben is roughly the size of Rhode Island, and there's a whole lot to see from the Chisos Mountains to the Chihuahuan Desert and, of course, the Rio Grande. On the one hand, life on an oil rig is pretty sweet. All your meals air covered. You've got a decent place to sleep, plus TV movies and yet even fishing when you aren't working. You're surrounded by heavy machinery out on the open water or wind and rain can strike at any moment, not to mention your drilling for oil, the most flammable liquid on Earth.
