Description

This sample is a conversational monologue that I did for a short stories reading. I interpreted the character as first being emotionally guarded until the last segment of her conversation. That's when she started to open up and show vulnerability.

I had no intentions of being at that party. I'm rarely in my home town long enough to even hang out. The only reason why I showed up that night was because of june. We were close in high school, but we grew apart after she started dating Dave. I think I got jealous. I think I always knew there was something else going on between us, but I didn't have the words for it yet. Even over the loud music, I could hear her laugh. She had like nine different laughs The Polite one. But you tried it one. But my favorite was when she'd be trying to tell a story but couldn't get through it because of how funny she thought it was. I've only ever seen a laugh that hard with me.
