Hi, My name is Lakesha LeSure and this is my introduction.
Lakesha was born in August of 1984 in Columbia, SC. Growing up in a troubled home, she began writing poetry, monologue, and plays as a way of release. By twelve, she began performing dramatic pieces, the works of revolutionary poets, as well as her work which took influence from notables such as Maya Angelou.
During her Senior Year at Irmo High School in Columbia, she won First Place in Poetic Interpretation and received Honors from the International Thespian Society. She further received a Jamil Temple Drama Scholarship.
Studying at ADMA, Lakesha majored in Performing Arts and minored in Business. Later Furthering her dream of performing, she put on spoken word performances and plays through the Morris College Drama Society and Sumter Opera House. Through this work, she took advantage of the opportunity to mentor local youth. During plays area metro area such as Fences and Rasin in the sun
Lakesha moved to Georgia in 2009 to pursue a dream of being a performing spoken word artist, ding plays, and also extra work in such movie The Blindside. She was continuing her education at the University of Maryland majoring in the arts.
Lakesha is a poet first, a writer, and a greater interpretation of any work. She wishes to reach people of all minds and hearts. She strives to move beyond the spoken word and to inspire the uninspired. Her goal is to heal people's mentalities through her words.
