Protecting Your Auditions

In the past, it was recommended that talent add an audio watermark to audition files that would render the audio useless for broadcast while still giving the client a good impression of your abilities.

Voices no longer suggests watermarking to protect your auditions. It is difficult to embed a watermark into an audio file without distracting from the performance and diminishes the quality of an audition. Clients have told us that they find it distracting and often delete auditions that are watermarked.

Our recommendation is to only read a portion of the script provided. If the client requests a new audition be uploaded with the full script being read, our suggestion is to use your discretion and ensure you feel comfortable doing so. By only providing a portion of the script you are able to protect your work. If a request seems odd, please contact [email protected] for advice.
