I'm a professional actor; own my own company, Scripture on Stage, with which I've been performing live theater (1-man, 2-act, 90-minute shows) for last 29 years, fortunately always to standing ovations for the last 15 years.
I was on the Michigan corporate public speaking circuit for 5 years doing 1-person, 60-minute personal safety and child protection seminars.
I played John the Baptist and Judas in an Off-0ff Broadway production of Godspell while still in grad school in NY; and was asked by the director to audition for his upcoming Broadway show. I only passed on that to continue what were then studies toward the Roman Catholic priesthood; work for which I spent 18 months in Bolivia and El Salvador working as a pastoral associate with some terrific, but very poor people.
I then spent the first 12 years or so of my marriage reading animated children's books to my 3 kids at bedtime, and held them spellbound with laughter. I do the same still today with a hundred kids as their Director of Religious Education in my local parish.
I started narrating audiobooks for ACX (Amazon) in August 2015 part-time, and have completed now 25: from fantasy novels and crime stories to religious nonfiction, and then a couple of children's books. I enjoy, and seem to have developed the skill for narrating works that ask for high energy, or a comedic voice, or a sensitive or more wisdom voice.
Like you, however, this is a business for me. To be sure, it's one that I thoroughly enjoy; but that means I recognize the importance of giving you high-quality work with as quick a turnaround as possible.
I've started VO work for the corporate market only in February of 2020, so any testimonials I have are only from various authors for whom I've narrated books, not yet from corporate clients. Give me a minute to earn my stripes.
