little Ernie elf had been waiting his entire life. Or so it seemed to go out with Santa Claus, the older elves and Santa's reindeer to deliver Christmas gifts to Children around the world. Leaving the North Pole for the first time was an adventure, Ernie. Very much look forward to, uh, but Santa told him, You're much too young to brave the elements and long travel my little elbow. Maybe next year your turn will come for earning. That was much too far away, especially when the other else couldn't stop talking about how much fun it was to spread cheer everywhere. He wanted to experience this, too. But how Santa wouldn't let him go. Then Ernie Head would, he thought, was a brilliant idea. He would slip into the sleigh before everyone else climbed aboard and hide the need some toys. By the time they realized he was there, it would be too late to turn back. Yes. Um, hey, a new Santa would be angry with him, but he also knew Sander was jolly most of the time and wouldn't stay mad for wrong. And Ernie was sure the boss would be glad. Toe have an extra hand toe help out. But then something happened that Ernie Elf hadn't expected. Oh, you He fell asleep before they left the North Pole. And it it was a deep sleep that he couldn't snap on of when Ernie finally woke up, he realized that he was no longer on the slate. Instead, he was just lying outside in a bed of soft snow. He sat up and saw more snow covering the rolling hills, just like the pictures he had seen. There were houses in the distance with Christmas lights growing. It was the wee hours of what had to be the morning on Christmas Day, and there was no side of Santa. The other elf's the sleigh or the reindeer. How did I get here? Ernie wondered. He decided that he must have somehow fallen out of the sleigh and hit his head when he landed in the Christmas town. Maybe Santa and his elf helpers didn't realize he had been hiding on the slate so they wouldn't even know he was missing. Now they had gone on to do their work on Christmas Eve, leaving him behind. Now what would he do? Was Santa Claus looking for him? Or did he and Mrs Claus think he was still safe and sound at the North Pole? May be hiding from them. In the other Christmas, Alves Ernie got to his little feet, brushed the snow off his clothes and looked around. He scratched one of his pointed years. He didn't know how to get back to the North Pole. Maybe you would never get back early. Had no way to communicate with Santa so far away because he never thought he would have to. Now he was left on his own to try to figure out what he should do and where he should go. Ernie started to walk, leaving little tracks in his way.
