It was him or me. But that doesn't mean I have to love that. It came down to this. Now, I just have to get these handcuffs off. I back up to the bounty hunter's body and dig through his pockets looking over my shoulder the whole time so I can see what I'm doing. It's an awkward position but it only takes a few seconds before my fingers brush metal. I clasp the key between my finger and thumb and bend my hands sideways trying to force it into the tiny hole. Unfortunately, I can't get a good angle. Beads of sweat break out on my forehead and flies buzz around the alley. They land on my face and I have to shake my head to get them to leave me alone. The stale air unsettles my stomach, but I try not to focus on it as I struggle with the key. It isn't working though. I'm going to need help to get these cuffs off, which means I have to find Asher Damn. Walking into the bar handcuffed and covered in blood is probably going to cause a few problems, but there isn't a whole lot I can do about it. I need help. Not just to get these cuffs off, but also to get rid of the body. It won't be the first time Asher's had to clean up after me and in this world it probably won't be the last just as I thought everyone in the bar turns to stare when I walk in. Luckily these people are all cons themselves and most of the looks, people throw my way, feel more like a high five than any form of judgment. Asher jumps to his feet when he sees me knocking over his and someone else's glass in the process. Scarlett, what the **** bounty hunter, I say turning around so my back is to him. Think you can help me out here. He sighs as he takes the key from my hand, you're in a lot of trouble, you know that the cuffs fall away. And I laugh as I turn to face him, rubbing my wrists where the metal tried to cut into my skin. I'm pretty sure you said the exact same thing to me the day we met and I've thought it every day since then.
