J. K. Rowling is one of the most well loved writers of this century, thanks to her immensely popular Harry Potter series. Writing has always been a passion for Rowling, but it took her years to make a living at it. Rowling went to Exeter University, worked as a secretary and as a teacher, but then fell on hard times.
