Theo year was 1987. I was 10 years old and sheltered from R rated movies by my conservative Christian parents. I did have a work around, though. His name was mad Stanic. I have no idea what his parents did that all I know is that he was my gateway, an R rated horror and genre flicks. His house always smelled like cat ****, and their house was always out of an episode of hoarders getting older brother who basically worshipped Iron Maiden and their mascot, Eddie. His room was lined with Iron Maiden posters. He had a mullet in a single cross hearing way. Never had to go into that room. I was terrified. Matt, Stay Nikki and I hadn't died in a metal just yet. He introduced me to Dr Demento albums that began my weird Al Yankovic obsession that really wasn't the best student, but he had a vivid imagination, and the guy could memorize an entire movie just by singing. Once I live in Hayward, California and we had a field trip to San Francisco One day, the bus pulled up and we scrambled to our seats. Matt plopped down next to me, holding a stain and beat up lunch bag of using Robocop? He asked. No, my parents won't let me, I replied. My brother took me last night. It was awesome. I didn't want to tell you the movie. Uh, sure, I said.
