well, abby, as you know, cosmopolis was founded on the belief that if we are to live in a better social world, we have to make it ourselves and the way to make it is through better communication practices. this belief sounds pretty simple, but you have no idea how easy it is to forget it. usually people just think of communication as the exchange of information. and when you think like that other things like social structures and laws are taken as far more important and communication doesn't really matter. but when you accept that how we communicate with one another is fateful. your whole world view changes in cosmopolis, we understand that together we create both our present and our future one conversation at a time. and from that starting point, so many new possibilities for a better public life can be imagined. our court system was one of the critical civic institutions that we needed to change.
