That was the year everybody was obsessed with the year 2000 or why two K older computer systems only put in the last two digits of a given year. They put in 69 or 87 or 92. And the fear was that when we the odometer ruled over to 2000 the computers would think it was January 1st 1900 and all sorts of bad things would happen. They said the power grid would go down. They said our bank accounts would be emptied. They said planes would fall from the sky. They said all your computers would crash.
