Hi, everyone. This is Sam from Sam Lee paintings. I wanted to make this video today to describe to you how reference modeling works and how I use reference images as creative bases for the work that I dio. This is something that I get asked a lot, especially from new models. So hopefully this video is Ah, good way to answer some of your questions. And by the way, my hair is really long here, so please don't judge me so reference Painting is a process of using a reference model as a basis for a piece of art. Um, a reference image painting is a similar process that substitutes live models with images. Now I've got over 30 reference image contributors that supply me with material that I use. And when I'm searching for reference models. I really try to look for people who aren't professional models, but they do have their own sense of beauty and uniqueness to them. And you know what? Social media has been a great way for me to discover some of these people. Here's how the upload process works. I haven't upload section on my site here, where reference models send their material in some models prefer to use dropbox for photo submissions, which we can easily set up now after these images air sent in by using your I D number, then I'm going to select a few to use and paintings. Now you'll receive a payment for each image that I've selected for usage along with a Pdf report. Now, after I select a reference image, I bring it up on my iPad, which I referred to during the painting process. By using riel life reference images, I'm able to create a truly realistic and really a unique piece of art. I feel like, you know, I feel like a lot of the art today is is pretty mainstream, and I've found that reference image painting really differentiates from the rest of the our community, and really, that's what I love about it.
