I want to tell you a story. The story of salami and its people, my people, okay. They're not my people. But the more I learn, the more I want to be among them, they do the most amazing things on the backs, emotionless beast. Their homes are built on sticks above the water and they keep animals from the water in tiny oceans. They're definitely weird. But their culture has so much to offer. They say the island is what brought them together. So they all chip in and take care of it. Some even make it their career. They call themselves conservationists. I think that's how you say it. Conservationists take care of the island and they're obsessed with water. Sometimes studying it for hours. They do seem to genuinely love the sea and those who live in it, including me the first time I met one they told me about salami and all the fun things there is to do here. Like island celebrations. My favorite of the many events they have. There's muddy dirt water, something called a barbecue. People love standing around them and talking. They even have a contest to see who can make the best crab house I think. And so much yummy food. These events are more than just parties. They bring everyone together to carry forward traditions as well as make some new ones on salon E. We celebrate this way of life. Now it's time to share it with the rest of the world.
