More people today than ever before are doing their part to build a Democratic society in the country they call home. The desire to live a life free from government control and state sponsored oppression. Burns within all people across the globe. Since 1983, the International Republican Institute has been leading the way for millions of people around the world. We know that individuals must be empowered on a personal level for democracy to succeed on a national level. In over 100 countries, we are working to enhance political openness, strengthen government accountability and expand human rights. We have observed more than 200 elections and fought for marginalized communities, including women and youth.
