The presidential election of 2000 will always be remembered for the 36 days it took to find out who the winner would be. The candidates were Democrat Al Gore and Republican George W. Bush. On November 7th, the voting ended, but the race was too close to call. The nation had to wait for weeks while thousands of Florida votes were recounted by hand. But on December 13th the Supreme Court of the United States stepped in and stopped the count. George W. Bush won by only 537 votes. Get out to vote. Your vote really does matter.
