Shortly before midnight. On July 29th, 2022 a mini Mart on Franklin Avenue is met with an aggressive male subject. He makes numerous threats to bystanders and walks away revealing his firearm. The scared bystanders run inside the Mart to hide the subject follows them inside the store. During the struggle, the subject obtains his pistol from his waistband. And Trooper Schooley grabs the barrel to prevent the subject from shooting anyone. Trooper school is struck by one round in the leg due to trooper School's actions of grabbing the front of the pistol. It became out of battery after the first shot and the suspect was unable to fire any further rounds. Trooper Schooley heroically placed his own safety in extreme peril to protect and save others. When he witnessed a man threatening them with a gun rather than swerve from the path of duty.
