Irritable bowel syndrome is a common, but perplexing disorder of the intestines. Doctors aren't exactly sure what causes it, and we don't yet have a cure. But there are some treatments you can take to lessen the symptoms. If you have the disorder, you may experience stomach pain bloating and bouts of diarrhea, constipation or both. The symptoms are usually mild and don't interfere with your usual activities. In fact, many people never see a doctor for them, but in a few cases they can be severe enough to make it difficult for you to function normally.
