From the very moment the Supermarine Spitfire first rose to the skies in the spring of 1937. It was clear that this was a fighter unlike any other that had come before. In the summer of 1940, the unmistakable silhouette of the Spitfire rolled and dived and swept the skies over England... From Chinese kites in the fifth century to Da Vinci's aspirational drawings 10 centuries later and the invention of the airplane in the 19th, Aviation, as we know it today has flown furthest and fastest in less than 100 years, from the sandy beach at Kitty Hawk in 1903 to the red dust of Mars. The first moment when time and space began, the beginning of everything - also known as the Big Bang. From entire Galaxies to microscopic particles, everything we can see touch and smell began within this moment...I got into the main body of Schultz Lake. A sudden squall came up and swamped the canoe I was towing. It capsized, spilling everything out, it contained all my food supplies and, and part of the natives...The rivers in Africa often provide a scarce source of vegetation. Thanks to his long trunk, he can reach the best leaves towards the top of the tree. Nearby another elephant is not so lucky. His trunk is damaged from a poacher's trap and he is no longer strong enough to reach the highest leaves... A daring maneuver, made possible by the partial freezing of the river which provided an unstable - and perhaps, to the British, an unlikely surface to cross the river, and shrouded by the dark of night. The attack was unprecedented and won Washington a major victory, perhaps even helping to turn the tide of war in favor of the revolutionaries.
