all across Africa, the African Development Bank is building flagship infrastructure from bridges and roads to factories and medical centres. However, one crucial aspect of development is lagging behind grey Matter infrastructure. It is the part of the brain responsible for memory and processing information. Grey Matter infrastructure develops with adequate nutrition, ensuring that infants turn into productive contributors to their societies and economies. Yet too many African Children still face malnutrition. Some 58.7 million under the age of five suffer from impaired growth, also known as standing, Africa is the only continent where the number of standard Children has bean on the rise since the last century. Last year, the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank and their partners launched the African Leaders for Nutrition Initiative, or ale, in to combat malnutrition. Made of current and former heads of state finance ministers and other eminent personalities, Ellen is determined to address root causes of stunting. This year, Aylin is launching the Continental Nutrition Accountability Scorecard, which introduces indicators for each African country on nutrition services, governance and socio economic impact. This evaluation and monitoring mechanism is set to play a vital role in the journey towards ending malnutrition in Africa. The school card is a reference point for African leaders to reinforce health policies for pregnant woman and Children, boost budgets for nutrition plans, draught legislation for fortified foods and much more. Winning the fight against malnutrition in Africa is possible. The African leaders for nutrition have now a new tool to take action and improve the quality of life for Children across the continent.
