In Britain rural villages and seaside towns are under threat. Urban gangs are moving in and selling drugs. Police are trying to tackle these gangs who are extending their drug networks from the cities into the countryside. In Birmingham today, there are said to be up to 2000 people in close to 50 street gangs. The west Midlands has often been maligned as the gun crime capital of the UK due to rates of gun crime that surpassed London And firearm offenses in the region have been rapidly increasing up to 17% in half a decade. Increasingly gangs recruit younger members as foot soldiers to using their drug operations Children as young as 12 are transporting and selling class A drugs hundreds of miles away from home. In the UK last year, 31 teenagers were killed in gang related drug activity. Gang culture has now infiltrated and infected every area of the U. K. And it's the perpetrators, families and local communities that are left to pick up the pieces to get an inside story from real gang members. We gave them cameras to film their own lives, showing us what it's really like on the streets of the UK today
