Meal Subscription Plan Explainer Video

Client:

frEATom

Voice Age:

Young Adult (18-35)

Gender:

Any

Job description:

frEATom is the meal subscription plan developed during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. The various safety restrictions brought with them a new focus on healthy living for many, but many others struggled to keep healthy eating and exercise habits. frEATom is designed specifically for those of us who want to get back to healthy living but can’t seem to get started for any number of reasons. This video will help explain how the subscription works, how it’s different from other meal subscription services, and offer a free trial with a promo code.

Art Direction:

We are looking for a young adult voice of any gender to convey a “real person” read of the script. The voice of frEATom (pronounced free-tom, like “freedom” but with a soft “T,” not a hard or sharp “T” sound) needs to sound like someone who has been in the shoes of a person who’s struggled to maintain healthy eating.

Because this is an explainer video, the voice isn’t necessarily selling the service, but rather describing how it works. So making it sound straightforward and simple is the goal by using warmth while delivering the explanation, but also making it sound like the game-changer in getting back on a healthy eating track through an air of confidence and trustworthiness on top of the warmth.

At frEATom, we’re all about adding in the good stuff, not taking it away. The freedom to eat ‘em: eat the carbs, sugars, fats, and everything in between. Mobile App Sample Script:

Client:

FotoHop Mobile App

Voice Age:

Middle Aged (35-54)

Gender:

Female

Job description:

FotoHop is a new mobile app that helps everybody, from the casual smartphone user to the professional photographer, organize their phone’s photo library. By installing FotoHop on your phone, the app will instantly track and analyze any image you photograph and save to your library. When you have multiple images from the same photoshoot, FotoHop will send you a reminder prompting you to choose the ones you want to hold onto, as well as the ones you want to erase. FotoHop allows its users to maximize their phone’s storage space and organize their precious memories.

This brief explainer video will introduce the mobile app in an informative and entertaining way, while also articulating the app’s raison d’être.

Art Direction:

We are looking for a middle-aged female voice. Our narrator is a tech-savvy woman who is constantly on-the-go and documenting her daily life. Whether she is snapping family photos, bringing her phone on business trips, or experimenting with comedic filters, preserving her memories matters a lot to her.

Her voice is cool and confident. She has an air of sophistication that is on display while she is explaining the usage of the app, but at the same time, she isn’t afraid to laugh at herself.

1-Minute Explainer Video Sample Script:

[Through an iPhone screen, we see a cluster of friends stumble over one another as they comically do their best to arrange themselves for a group photo. Once everybody has wedged themselves within the frame, we see the shutter snap numerous times at breakneck speed.]

“Have you ever tried so hard to capture a moment…”

[We see a rapid montage of images flash by on the screen of the iPhone. In every photo, without fail, somebody is either blinking, making an awkward face, or looking away from the camera.]

“…that the moment evades you?”

[Zoom out to reveal the person holding the iPhone. It’s Sara: our narrator.]

[Insert: Grainy stock footage of a 1930s era photographer assembling an old-fashioned camera on a tripod.]

“Back in the days of celluloid photography, people were hyper-specific about the photos they took.”

[Smash cut to modern day. Sara is walking briskly through a park, pausing frequently to pull out her phone and take copious photos of the cute dogs she encounters.]

“Nowadays, we’re all walking around with hi-def cameras in our pockets. We take as many photos as we believe we need, telling ourselves that we’ll delete the excess snapshots later.”

[Shot of Sara surrounded by colleagues in her office lunchroom. They’re peering over her shoulder as she frantically scrolls through her phone, eager to show them a picture that she just… can’t find.]

“But the photos linger. They crowd our phones’ photo libraries, occupy storage space, and sit there accumulating digital dust.”

[Sara accidentally enlarges an embarrassing mirror selfie. Her coworkers struggle to contain their laughter while her cheeks turn bright red].

“Plus, they can pop up at moments that are… less than ideal.”

[We see the glossy FotoHop mobile app interface.]

“This is why we invented FotoHop: the new smartphone photo optimization app that keeps your phone’s photo library organized.”

“With FotoHop, 24 hours after you’ve taken a set of photos of the same scene, you’ll receive a special reminder. FotoHop will present your photos side-by-side, prompting you to choose which photo is the keeper, so that you can erase the others.”

[A series of shots depicting Sara’s life in images: posing with her children in front of the Stonehenge monuments, photographing a city vista from her hotel suite on the 30th floor, taking a selfie while holding a slice of pizza below her mouth.]

“You can adjust these reminders to appear however regularly you want: once you return home from a family vacation, as you’re winding down each evening during a business conference, or every Saturday morning after your weekly night out with friends.”

[Through an iPhone screen, we see Sara’s group of friends toiling to arrange themselves once more. This time, instead of remaining the photographer, we see Sara’s hand pass the phone to a companion as she enters the frame. She joins her friends in the center of the photo.]

“At FotoHop, we believe decluttering your life starts with decluttering your smartphone. Stop your photo library from resembling an amateur’s chaotic darkroom by turning it into a pristine, professional photo album, where every picture is a gem.”

[Sara looks directly into the camera and flashes a smile. Freeze-frame on Sara’s picture-perfect smile with FotoHop’s colourful logo superimposed over the image.]

[Shot of a middle-aged woman jogging in a park. She stops to take a photo of the sunrise.]

“Before the smartphone era, people took pictures sparingly. Now, we all go through our days snapping a virtually endless stream of photos.”

[On her phone screen, we see a flurry of scenes from her run flash by: tall trees, families of squirrels, self-portraits standing at a water fountain.]

“Introducing FotoHop: the new smartphone photo optimization app that keeps your phone’s photo library organized.”

[A series of close-ups on the interface of the FotoHop mobile app.]

“When you install FotoHop, you’ll receive special reminders that prompt you to review photos you’ve recently taken, so that you can decide which ones to preserve, and which ones to send to the trash bin.”

[Shot of a family luxuriating around a dinner table. A man’s eyes widen as a birthday cake is placed in front of him.]

“FotoHop can use advanced technology to automatically detect which picture from a photoshoot is the strongest: based on photographic elements like lighting and exposure, or whether your brother was making an uncomfortable frown as he blew out the candles on his birthday cake.”

[Freeze-frame on an image of the man trying to force an awkward grin as he blows out his birthday candles. Superimpose the FotoHop logo on top of it.]

“Don’t let any more digital dust accumulate. Clear off the surface of your memories so they can glisten like they’re supposed to.”

      Hi Rajendra,

Thanks for the comment! When you’re filling out your profile, you’ll want to list any of the unique vocal capabilities you possess – for example, which languages you speak fluently, and whether or not you speak with an accent. For example, you can list the ability to speak Polish, or with a Polish accent, directly on your profile. That way, clients will have an easier time finding you when they’re seeking your specific vocal qualities for a project.

You may also want to leaf through our Beginner’s Guide to Voice Acting when you’re first familiarizing yourself with the platform and this exciting industry, and we also have a YouTube channel packed with videos that should guide you as you set up a profile and get started on Voices.

      Hi Ranwella,

If you’re looking for ways to get acquainted with the voice over industry, I’d highly recommend taking a look through our Beginner’s Guide to Voice Acting, as well as the videos on our YouTube channel. Once you’re ready to upload a demo and begin auditioning for voice over work, then you can sign up for a Voices talent account and fill out a profile with your voice over expertise and interests.

      I hope that helps!
      Oliver

I am sure I’d do well but my biggest concern is how to market myself and how to compete

I see so many general comments here from people who want to get started rather than comments on the script itself. I just wanted to give kudos to Oliver for answering each person with exactly the information they need and in a friendly and professional style. Thanks for helping us all, Oliver! Glad to be part of voices.com.

For sure! Feel free to use any of our sample scripts to record your demos or practice your voice over delivery.

Thank you for the information. I am a 50 year old retired paramedic. I have done voice imitations and singing my entire adult life and finally decided it’s time to do something with us. Giving radio patient reports for 31 years, I am not afraid of a microphone. I naturally have a very strong and carrying deep voice but have at least a 3 octave vocal range from sing bass on songs to singing Queen songs. I know what I have to do now! Thank you!
