At the end of this module, you will be able to define person centered dementia care, describe the five areas of person centered care and explain ways to provide care that focus on the unique needs, abilities and preferences of the person living with dementia. Ah, person centered approach has benefits for those living with dementia. It also has benefits for staff members who support them. Some of the benefits for the person living with dementia are fewer behavioral symptoms. This reduces the need for medication to treat these symptoms, lower rates of boredom and less feelings of helplessness and lower levels of agitation and an increased sense of well being.
