Understanding the importance of self care. You've probably heard it 100 times, right? Take care of yourself. Don't forget about self care. Remember to put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others. It all sounds so cliche. But cliches exist for a reason. There's a nugget of truth buried in them. The concept of self care despite sounding like a buzzword is actually a fundamental aspect of our happiness and well being. So what is self care really well friend? It's a lot more than indulging in bubble baths and spa days. Not that there's anything wrong with those, but self care at its core is any action we deliberately take to care for our mental, emotional and physical health. Sounds simple, right? However, in the hustle and bustle of life, we often neglect these needs. We're busy with work, family obligations and sometimes even just the attempt to can feel like a chore. But here's the deal. Self care isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. It's akin to recharging your battery. So you can run on full power. Imagine driving a car that's always on empty or worse, trying to get your phone to work on 1% battery. It's frustrating. Right. Well, that's what you're doing to your body when you neglect self care. Importantly, self care isn't selfish. This is a common misconception. Many of us feel guilty for taking time for ourselves, especially if we have other people depending on us. But remember the oxygen mask analogy, you can't pour from an empty cup by taking care of ourselves. We're better equipped to care for others. When you regularly engage in self care, you're sending a positive message to your subconscious. You're telling yourself I am worth this. This can significantly boost your self esteem and confidence, making you more resilient in facing life's challenges. Physically, self care can prevent burnout, reduce stress and help maintain good physical health mentally. It can improve focus and productivity emotionally. It can enhance our ability to empathize with others and build better relationships. From a broader perspective. Self care can also influence our community and society. When we are healthier and happier, we can contribute more positively to the world around us.
