welcome to a celebration of the life of Linda Jane Iverson. Linda was born in Mathlete, a district of the City of Hole, in April 1939. The only child of Edwin, the train driver, and Margaret Nurse, Linda spent her early childhood in the shadow of World War Two, being cared for mostly by her grandmother, Agnes, in the relative safety of the nearby village of First Week. Whilst her parents worked tirelessly as part of the war effort following the end of the war, Linda attended My Feet primary school, where she showed an early interest in nursing, often volunteering to help the school nurse reorganise first aid supplies on being told off on an almost weekly basis for stealing Mom's nurse's cap and wearing it in the house. Linda attended escort High School for Girls in 1950 where she excelled in maths, chemistry and cookery. Had Linda been mail, she would have undoubtedly ended up studying medicine. Girls, however, had no real prospect of becoming doctors unless they came from wealthy families. Linda studied hard and successfully applied for a role as a student nurse at holds Western General Hospital. Was he quickly impressed with her passion and knowledge. After only a few years, Linda had become one of the most trusted members of the nursing staff, often being charged with mentoring student nurses. Age 26 she met her husband, Lester, who was completing medical training at Western General. The two fell instantly into a lifelong love that saw them married just a year after they met. Even senior doctors would wince at the thought of receiving one of Linda's put downs, even though they were always delivered over tea and with a disarming smile. Linda retired on her 63rd birthday to spend more time with her beloved family. They enjoyed regular weekends in finally, where the family owned a caravan. When asked about their abiding memories of Linda, her grandchildren all said they will forever remember the laughter and joy she wore with pride on those precious weekends with those who mattered most of it.
