Born and raised in Motown
Daniel has always had two endeavors that held great interest and enjoyment for him. Singing and being an entrepreneur, has been his focus since he was a teen growing up in Detroit. His professional singing experience began in the late sixties, with local vocal groups like the Fantastic Phelps, Sage and others, appearing in nightclubs, private clubs and at civic events. He went on to sing with well-known groups such as the Grammy winning, Floaters, one of Motown’s super-groups - The Contours, and The Dynamics. He’s done studio work with the Legendary Temptations and he has appeared in major Detroit clubs such as The 20 Grand, Mr. Kelly’s, The Phelps Lounge, The Latin Quarters, and the world renown, Baker’s Keyboard Lounge, just to name a few.
After leaving the music industry for several years to get more involved in some entrepreneurial endeavors, he returned when he was approached in 1997 to audition for a vocal group called “N” Full Effect where he was immediately accepted. They went on to become one of Detroit’s premier vocal groups appearing at all three of Detroit’s casinos and many night clubs when they were not performing in other parts of the country.
Two years later he and 3 other members of that group left “N” Full Effect and formed the vocal group called “UPSCALE”. They continued to astonish Casino Audiences as well as audiences of other venues around Michigan and in other parts of the country. On May 29th, 2001, Daniel left UPSCALE to prepare to join his wife and move to Florida where he now resides and is still pursuing his love of singing.
While living in Detroit Daniel also attended The Specs Howard School Of Broadcast Arts in 1986 which led to Daniel being hired by WQBH Radio in Detroit in 1988 as a Radio Board Operator and then the an On-Air Radio personality, where he was the host of a Jazz show from 10 p.m. till 2 a.m.
He also became the assistant Production Director and was later made the head Production Director. As Production Director Daniel created and was the voice of commercial spots for the station’s clients, community service spots for various community organizations and in-house spots & station ID’s for the on-air staff and their radio shows. He was there for almost 4 years before leaving to join a local Gospel Radio Station. His radio expertise and career also continued when he moved to Florida. Although singing full time, he was also hired by Clear Channel Radio as a Voice Tracker where he had his show airing Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.. He also continued to be utilized for voice-over work for the station as well.
So as you can see Daniel has had many years of experience in various areas of which his great voice has served him well.
