John Nyrere Frazier began his professional acting career with two East Coast tours as an actor / dancer with Silver Sun Limited. While in Rhode Island, he worked with Rites and Reason Theatre at Brown University and Providence Black Repertory. John later moved back to his home state of North Carolina and attended Shaw University and North Carolina Central University’s departments of theatre. During his time at NCCU, he involved himself in campus theatre, local community theatres, and produced radio dramas. In addition, he also co-wrote a production - "Bye-Bye Black Birds - with one of his theatre department professors. The production went on to be included in North Carolina Central’s production season and represented the department at the Irene Ryan Theatre Competitions.
He graduated with academic honors and was accepted to the Chicago College for the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where he received his MFA. While in Chicago, John worked with Shattered Globe Theatre Company, Adventure Stage Theatre, American Theatre Company, Victory Gardens Theater, and Next Theatre. He also performed in the Gaming Industry as a motion capture performance artist and voice-over artist for MidWay Games, EA Games/ Chicago, and Warner Brothers Entertainment.
John returned to university life when he was accepted to Miami University’s MA program in Theatre Literature. Because he held an MFA at the time of his enrollment, he was tapped by the university to teach his own class in acting. In addition, he also directed for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf and worked closely with the University's Communications Department to develop multicultural historical vignettes for broadcast. John now works in the Southeast and Midwest regions of the United States.
